Position Description

We are seeking an Information Assurance Engineer that provides technical and programmatic Information Assurance Services to our customer in support of a network and information security systems. The role requires an individual who is resourceful, confident under pressure, and has demonstrated skill in both high pressure workload and expectation management. Strong leadership skills, excellent communication, project management, negotiation skills and presentation skills are highly desirable. Furthermore, the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of managers and executives on technical and business issues is vital.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conduct studies within and outside the organization to ensure compliance with standards and industry security norms
  • Manage and participate in the planning and implementation of security administration for IT projects
  • Evaluate technical requirements from agency IT staff, and articulate business requirements to senior management through clear and actionable business cases and detailed use case documentation
  • Prepare documentation from information obtained from customer using accepted guidelines such as DITSCAP (DoD Information Technology Security Certification and Accreditation Process)
  • Prepare Security Test and Evaluation plans
  • Provide certification and accreditation support in the development of security and contingency plans and conducts complex risk and vulnerability assessments
  • Develop and complete system security plans and contingency plans
  • Recommend system enhancements to improve security deficiencies
  • Provide information assurance support for the development and implementation of security architecture to meet new and evolving security requirements
  • Evaluate, develop and enhance security requirements, policy and tools
  • Perform a wide variety of information assurance and information systems security engineering duties that include certification and accreditation of information systems using DIACAP (formerly DITSCAP), NIACAP, NIST SP 800-37, and/or DCID 6/3 framework

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in enterprise architecture, infrastructure deployment and/or distributed solution implementation
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively and to work with small teams (2-4) in a lead or support role, as necessary
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in formal DoD or Federal agency issuance, policy and guidance related to enterprise IT capabilities, especially DoDI 8500.1 and 8500.2
  • Understanding of Enterprise SAN technologies and best practices
  • Understanding of Backup and Recovery technologies and best practices
  • Knowledgeable understanding of Virtualization Technologies and best practices
  • Knowledgeable understanding of LAN/WAN network technologies and best practices
  • High level of experience with Security infrastructure technologies, concepts and industry best practices
  • Knowledgeable understanding of Database Platform Technologies
  • DoD combatant command, service or agency (CC/S/A) experience highly preferred

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) is required
