Position Description

We are seeking an Information Security Engineer that provides technical and programmatic Information Security Services to our customer in support of a network and information security systems. The role requires an individual who is resourceful in researching to find answers to technical issues. The ability to work effectively and independently to research technical issues and topics is vital.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conduct studies within and outside the organization to ensure compliance with standards and industry security norms
  • Manage and participate in the planning and implementation of security administration for IT projects
  • Evaluate technical requirements from agency IT staff and articulate business requirements to senior management through clear and actionable business cases and detailed use case documentation
  • Recommend system enhancements to improve security deficiencies
  • Provide information assurance support for the development and implementation of security architecture to meet new and evolving security requirements
  • Evaluate, develop and enhance security requirements, policy and tools

Knowledge, Skills & Ability Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field
  • Minimum 8 years of experience with at least 5 of those years in applying DoD IA policies and controls to systems and networks
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in formal DoD or Federal instructions, standards, frameworks and guidance related to enterprise IT security
  • Knowledge of DoD security policies, processes and frameworks such as DoD 8500 series policies, NIST FIPS and SP 800 series documents, and Defense-in-Depth approach to security
  • Understanding of Backup and Recovery technologies and best practices
  • Knowledgeable understanding of Virtualization Technologies and best practices
  • Knowledgeable understanding of LAN/WAN network technologies, protocols, best practices, and network perimeter defenses (IDS/IPS, Firewalls, Security Gateways, Proxies, Content Filtering)
  • Knowledgeable in host and server based operating systems and protocols
  • DoD combatant command, service or agency (CC/S/A) experience highly preferred
  • Desired skills:
    • Knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and the Joint Information Environment (JIE) framework
    • Knowledge of DoD Host Based Systems Security (HBSS)
    • Understanding of Enterprise SAN technologies and best practices
    • Knowledgeable understanding of Database Platform Technologies
  • Required
    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Desired
    • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) or equivalent
