The Virginia Indigent Defense Commission (VIDC) Administrative Office has an opening for a hourly Information Security Officer. The VIDC is committed to providing quality legal services for indigent defendants charged with criminal offenses. The Information Security Officer will develop and manage the Virginia Indigent Defense Commission's information security program and is employed at will. A successful candidate is subject to a fingerprint based criminal background check.

Duties:
This position is responsible for developing and managing the Virginia Indigent Defense Commission's information security program. This includes developing and maintaining all agency IS policies and procedures, resolving audit findings related to IS, testing systems to ensure proper security levels, investigating all alleged security violations, reviewing new projects and ensuring that data security concerns are addressed during the project development phase, educating all system users about applicable security policies, requirements and responsibilities through the VIDC's IT security awareness program, and maintaining an information technology security review, compliance, risk management and incident response program. This position is also responsible for providing expertise and advice to ensure that appropriate security is included in all agency contingency and disaster recovery plans.

Minimum Qualifications
Considerable knowledge of computer operating systems, standard network security (including firewalls, proxy servers, digital certificates and encryption), risk management and, system architectures is required. A qualified incumbent will possess a working knowledge of security laws, policies, rules and regulations, information security practices and policies, applications and network security issues; as well as, strategies for mitigating risks associated with electronic trespass, email, viruses, wireless access, and electronic delivery of information. A College degree in Information Technology or Information Systems, and considerable experience performing information security activities; or an equivalent experience is required. Current Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA), or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certification is required.
