This position is responsible for providing information security consulting and support, and for maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of University information infrastructure systems and data. This position is also responsible for the development, implementation, testing and delivery of information security systems, and the support of existing Information Services security operations.

Managing daily operational information security related tasks, including security monitoring of university systems and services, security incident management, and risk assessment/remediation activities.

This position manages security staff.

Minimum/Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree and four (4) years professional experience, of which one (1) year must have been in a leadership role. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Experience with information security technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, switching and routing security, identity management and authentication systems, logging and monitoring systems, UNIX and Windows platforms in a large computing environment.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience with information security management and administration systems and tools.

Experience managing technical personnel.

Demonstrated ability managing technical projects.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated technical expertise in applying security tools and techniques in a large, heterogeneous and distributed computing and networking environment.

Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including ability to work as part of a team under difficult and stressful conditions.

Demonstrated ability to work independently with little or no direct supervision.

Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas to technical and non-technical staff.

Experience developing and applying appropriate metrics for the evaluation of effectiveness of University security policies, procedures, and controls.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience with managing information security incidents, and conducting information security related investigations.

Demonstrated technical expertise in applying system and network security troubleshooting and diagnostic tools and techniques in a large, heterogeneous computing environment.

Demonstrated ability to conduct security in-service education programs for systems administrators and other university staff.
