Position will provide expert level support to 50+ assigned subordinate unit locations with SAP Information Assurance (IA) and Information Technology (IT) policy, procedures, troubleshooting and guidance IAW JAFAN 6/0 and JAFAN 6/3. Develop and oversee the implementation of the security policy and provide guidance for securing Information Systems (IS). Ensure that security testing and evaluation are completed and documented. Advise the Designated Accrediting Authority (DAA) on the selection and effective use of specific security mechanisms. Evaluate threats and vulnerabilities to ascertain whether additional safeguards are needed. Assess changes in the system, its environment, and operational needs that could affect the accreditation. Support, monitor, test, and troubleshoot hardware and software IA or IT problems pertaining to the assigned unit computer and network environment. Configure and manage enclave network environment IAW customer support policies, procedures, and standards. Ensure 100% control of all media within assigned unit SAPFs. Perform duties as Client Systems Technician (CST) and Information Assurance Officer (IAO) for NIPRNET, SIPRNET and JWICS located within assigned unit SAPFs in coordination with the assigned unit Communications Flight. |
Education/Experience: Must possess a Bachelor's degree in the Information Technology or Computer Security field with five years of experience or Associate’s Degree in the Information Technology or Computer Security with seven years of experience or nine years of experience in lieu of a degree with Local Area Networks, Wide Area Networks, and personal computers. Experience with Microsoft Windows and Linux/Unix Operating Systems and the implementation of computer security settings. Must meet and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) and SCI eligibility criteria. Must meet position and certification requirements outlined in DoD Directive 8570.01-M for Information Assurance Technician Level 2 and Information Assurance Manager Level 2 within 6 months of the date of hire. Must meet Defense Acquisition University Information Technology Level I certification required within 12 months of date of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Possess an expert level of working knowledge of system function, security policies, technical security safeguards, and operational security measures. Must have the ability to troubleshoot computer hardware, peripherals, software, and network issues at the expert level without technical assistance. Possess an expert level of knowledge with Microsoft Office products.
Applicant selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. A Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the past five years is required.
