The Information Systems Technician II, as a beginning level professional, assists Information Systems Integrators in the development, deployment and management of the Client Server Computer Model at Muskegon County. The Information Systems Technician II deals with information systems technology including hardware, software, networking and communications. Employees in this class usually work on specific phases of a project assisting Information Systems Integrators in the deployment and administration of LAN's and WAN's, the development and maintenance of client server applications, the management of relational databases, and the development and maintenance of Internet-Enabled applications, and performs related duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Entrance Qualifications:
At the time of application, an applicant must:
Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, or closely related field to include a minimum of 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) in Computer Science; OR
Possess an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Business Administration or a closely related field; A ND Have a minimum of two (2) years full-time work experience in Information Systems to include Applications Development, Hardware/Software Maintenance and Support, and/or Network Administration; AND Have professional certification in any of the following Information Technology areas: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Database Administrator (MCDBA), Microsoft Certified Professional + Site Building (MCP+ Site Building), Certified Novell Engineer (CNE), Oracle Certified Professional (OCP); OR
Possess an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Business Administration or a closely related field; AND Have a minimum of two (2) years full-time work experience in Information Systems to include Application/Database Development and Maintenance, Hardware/Software Maintenance and Support, and/or Network Configuration, Installation and Administration; OR
Have a minimum of four (4) years full-time experience developing crystal reports, three (3) years experience with 837 ANSI standard encounter reporting and experience with relational database development/maintenance.
Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license.
Physical Conditions / Work Location:
An employee in this class performs generally sedentary work activity requiring the occasional lifting of objects weighing thirty-five (35) pounds or less.
An employee in this class generally works in the Community Mental Health offices.
The selected candidate must take a post-offer medical examination (including back screen and complete physical) and drug screening test given by a County appointed physician before the first day of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the medical examination and drug screening test. Applicants for County employment may be subject to a post-offer criminal background check, depending on the nature and assignment of the position. When such check is conducted, an offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the criminal background check. Appointees must satisfactorily complete a probationary period before the appointment will be considered permanent.

The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification in the County system. For each opening, the Department Head has her/his choice of the candidates who meet the required minimum entrance qualifications. This list remains in effect for three months unless exhausted or extended.
