Duties and Responsibilities
Participate as a team member in technology based upgrades and modifications of the CRDG programs and projects including designing/developing technology based instructional materials for PreK-12 students and teachers.
Serve as programmer in developing/improving usability of websites and instructional materials delivery, supporting online learning communities, testing mobile solutions functionality, and training curriculum development team members.
Attend and contribute to curriculum design and planning meetings and group discussions.
Develop working relationships with and provide multimedia development expertise to the CRDG researchers and development teams.
Design effective information management and retrieval system for both desktop and mobile digital devices.
Provide training and technical support for digital media applications.
Develop multimedia products based on user requirements which can include firewall protocols required by K-12 schools or accessibility needs by users with disabilities.
Evaluate hardware and software for applicability to multimedia development as applicable to PreK-12 classroom instruction and in-service professional development.
Serves as the Multimedia Development Programmer for the Curriculum Research & Development Group (CRDG) team with primary focus on the multimedia development and programming for digitization of CRDG-developed curricula.

Possession of a pertinent baccalaureate educational degree in computer information sciences, digital media, educational or instructional technology, or related field and 4 years of progressively responsible professional information technology experience with responsibilities for multimedia design and development, of which 2 years of the experience must have been comparable in scope and complexity to the next lower payband in the University of Hawai'i broadband system; or equivalent education/training or experience.
Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in multimedia design and development as demonstrated by the broad knowledge and understanding of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving information technology concepts, principles and methodology.
Considerable working knowledge and understanding of the broad technology, systems, hardware and software associated with multimedia design and development.
Demonstrated ability to recognize a wide range of intricate problems, use reasoning and logic to determine accurate causes, and apply principles and practices to determine, evaluation, integrate, and implement practical and thorough solutions in an effective and timely manner.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
For supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with multimedia learning objects development.
Considerable knowledge of PreK-12 education, curriculum development and implementation, and modes of information dissemination.
Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and digital media production software.
Extensive experience with learning or content management systems, network security protocols, and firewalls.
Familiar with current Mac OS and evidence of continuous profesional development in new technology operating systems.
Masters in computer information sciences, digital media, educational technology or related field.
Demonstrated ability to develop database solutions for Web and mobile environments.
