Cooperative Agricultural Support Services Authority (CASS) is looking for candidates willing to work 40 hours per week Monday – Friday supporting the California Department of Food and Agriculture’s Information Technology Unit. This is a temporary position with a starting wage of $11.00 per hour. You must complete our online application to be considered.
This position is responsible for a variety of information technology duties with various levels of complexity and difficulty. These duties are performed with a high degree of professionalism, judgment and initiative. The work typically requires a detailed knowledge of computer hardware and software programs used by the program that the incumbent is assigned to work with.
Under the direction of a designated supervisor, as well as operating within established guidelines and procedures, responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Assist in Hardware and Software Deployment (55%). Prepare new computers for use by providing assistance in software installation, configuration, and deployment. Research software and hardware implementation requirements. Configure computers to operate as part of a network. Deploy the computers on existing networks. Perform software and hardware upgrades. Transfer computers assigned to staff when they are relocated.
2. Troubleshoot Hardware and/or Software Problems (35%). Assist in troubleshooting and resolving software and hardware problems experienced by program staff. Maintain a record of troubleshooting requests, including documenting the problem and resolution of the problem.
3. Other Duties as Required - (10%). Perform other related assignments, projects or duties deemed necessary by management.
Duties for the position are performed inside of buildings in an office environment in several locations in the Sacramento Area. The workspace may be a cubicle or desk equipped with telephone, desktop computer, printer, chair and shelving for filing manuals, reports and books.
The incumbent in this position must have the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge and experience in computer hardware and software installation, setup and troubleshooting in a networked environment is required, as well as a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. The incumbent in this position must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships; work well under pressure; work independently; and, work cooperatively with other staff members in completing assigned work and meeting required deadlines. Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
The incumbent must be currently enrolled in or have completed relevant computer hardware/software courses.
The incumbent in this position will be required, with or without reasonable accommodation, to operate a desktop or laptop computer using a keyboard and mouse; employ repetitive arm and wrist motions; frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, twist, reach; and, lift computer equipment and related supplies weighing up to thirty five pounds.
