The Department of General Services (DGS) seeks a highly skilled and innovative systems and database administrator with application development experience. This position requires strong data mining and reporting skills, presentation and communication skills. Although the successful applicant will be assigned to a specific division (Fleet Management Services), they will also be expected to become knowledgeable in all technology innovations and programs in DGS, for purposes of cross training, and so that they will be able to respond, if called, to any emergency situation.
The successful applicant must have a creative mind and be willing to use innovative strategies to implement technological advances in a forward thinking division. This individual should be capable of understanding business and technical requirements related to procurement and contracting operations and the customer services section and communicating and implementing those requirements to department management, recommending resolutions and working with the County's central IT staff, if necessary. This person will work collaboratively with the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) team in support of the DGS mission and assist with other duties as needed as part of a team.

Experience: Three years of experience in the information technology field in the area of SQL server and SQL database administration skills.
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college or university, or certifications as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator, or equivalent certifications.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. For applicants possessing very hard-to-find skills which are a critical need to the department/agency, experience, training and certification may be accepted in lieu of full degree requirements.

Experience developing, implementing and administering database management systems including Oracle or MS SQL Server . Experience with the system administration of Windows Server 2003 and greater. Experience conducting comprehensive data mining and analytical reporting across various database platforms . Experience designing, developing, and maintaining .NET or JAVA applications. Experience with Internet/Intranet web application development, applications using XML and web services .

All applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be reviewed and rated by subject matter experts based on the Preferred Criteria. Based on the results of Preferred Criteria evaluation, applicants will be rated and placed on the Eligible List as either "Qualified" or "Well Qualified." The highest rated applicants will be placed on the Eligible List and may be considered for interview.
