POSITION TITLE: Information Technology Support Technician

Place of Performance: 66 Kennedy Avenue, Suite 233 Barksdale AFB, LA 71110

Position Task:
  • Plans and executes Information Technology activities and projects.
  • Builds, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs IT equipment.
  • Install, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs cabling and other network infrastructure.
  • Install, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs software (operating systems and user applications).
  • Builds, requests, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs user accounts and groups.
  • Performs hardware and software inventory management duties.
  • Documents all tasks, new and completed, in the designated help desk database.
  • Performs administrative duties as needed: management of user and operational forms, inventory records, data calls, office file maintenance, etc.
  • Serves as an IT staff representative to non-flight entities when needed (e.g. coordinate with outside IT teams or help desks, and represent flight in meetings).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)/Qualifications:
  • Have a valid driver’s license.
  • Have the ability to communicate clearly on a telephone, walk or stand for up to 8 hours at a time, work from a step ladder, reach under desks, and lift 50 pounds to chest level.
  • Have a CompTIA A+ or Security+ certification that was awarded within the last 2 years.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of IT networking, and have the skills and abilities to configure, interface, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair networks and networked devices.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of IT network cabling; and have the skills and abilities to install according to current industry standards, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair network cabling.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of personal computers, laptops and common peripheral devices; and have the skills and abilities to configure, interface, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair hardware and applicable software of said devices.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of printers, scanners and multifunction devices; and have the skills and abilities to configure, interface, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair said devices.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of wireless protocols and devices; and have the skills and abilities to configure, interface, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair said devices.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of common Microsoft operating systems and applications (e.g. Server 2003, Windows 7, DOS commands, Outlook 2010, Excel 2010, Powerpoint 2010, Word 2010); and have the skills and abilities to configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair said products.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of non-specific software applications; and have the skills and abilities to quickly learn through on-the-job training and assigned reading how to configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair said products.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of organizing and tracking systems; and have the skills and abilities to establish and maintain said systems (e.g. help desk ticket tracking database, hardware and software inventory tracking, and office files).
  • Program for evaluation using the most recent FEMA Continuity Evaluation Tool (CET) with the stated objective being to earn exemplary scores
  • Must have Secret Clearance
