Excelsior College, a private, independently chartered institution and recognized leader in the field of alternative higher education, seeks applicants for a full-time weekday permanent position as an Information Technology (IT) Trainer within the Office of Information Technology. The IT Trainer, with the Senior IT Trainer, plans, organizes, and implements the College's computer and Student Information System (SIS) training programs. The IT Trainer develops technical user manuals and provides both onsite and offsite staff training via classroom, remote, and one-on-one interaction. Responsibilities
Develop and deliver technical training to College staff as assigned by the Senior IT Trainer.
Assist in the coordination of a staff committee within the College to develop training initiatives and common practices.
Deliver training for computer basics to clerical, administrative, and professional staff, including use of:
Microsoft ® Office Suite
Email and calendaring
The College’s SIS
Instruct new employees in the use of the College computing systems, changing passwords, phone use, and the timesheet system.
Provide training in a classroom setting (face-to-face and online) to groups and individuals.
Develop user manuals and other related materials required to document programs and systems and promote technology learning.
Respond daily to employee inquiries about software and hardware features.
Attend professional conferences and training courses as required.
Stay current with software and hardware trends.
Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Associate degree required and at least two years experience in software application training.
Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to write technical training manuals.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines while providing quality customer service and related deliverables.
