DESCRIPTION

We are seeking to hire an Information Technology and Services Database Administrator for our Rochester, MN office. This individual is responsible for a wide variety of IT-related tasks, including configuring servers, installing, configuring, and maintaining database systems, writing relevant processes and procedures, network configuration, scripting, and support.

DUTIES

  • Design, implement, and maintain databases using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and 2012.
  • Administer database servers, including internal facing and external facing systems at all phases of the SDLC, including development, test, training, staging, and production.
  • Support software developers in designing and developing efficient methods of working with databases.
  • Implement and control database security and encryption.
  • Perform server setup and rebuild, including operating system installation and repair.
  • Install, configure, and maintain database software, including software tools used to interact with the databases.
  • Design, implement, and support highly available database systems, using techniques such as mirroring, replication, and log shipping.
  • Support backup and recovery procedures and testing of backup and recovery.
  • Monitor system performance and optimize/tune stored procedures and indexes.
  • Design database schemas; write stored procedures, SSIS packages and triggers.
  • Provide documentation about database/data warehouse structures.
  • Troubleshoot and isolate performance problems in production databases.
  • Create ad hoc SQL queries.
  • Design and implement data transformation rules. Follows coding policies and standards as well as configuration management/version control policies.
  • Design procedures for maintaining and refreshing data on an ongoing basis.
  • Integrate large data files and databases from disparate systems.
  • Performs data mining and cleansing on large historical databases.
  • Evaluate and implement new hardware and software.
  • Train users on IT-supported systems and software.
  • Occasional travel to other Preventice sites
  • Be on call to work off hours and weekends to support critical business applications.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years directly related work experience in Database Administration and Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing in an environment with multiple production databases. Prefer experience with SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS.
  • Working knowledge of database design, optimization, security, and troubleshooting, as well as Microsoft SQL 2008, 2012.
  • Familiar with the use of Microsoft Office software such as Outlook, Access, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Service-oriented mindset.
  • Team-oriented with exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Programming and scripting experience in a relevant language.
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle and code management.
  • Understanding of networking concepts and applications.
  • Experience configuring and managing computer systems.
