Contractor will handle anywhere from 3-5 projects at a time. Will be supporting client working primarily on infrastructure projects.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must have experience with Infrastructure Projects (servers, networks, etc.)
  • Experience working with implementations or upgrades of infrastructure components (such as SAN storage, virtual clusters, etc.) preferred
  • No preference for methodology, however, must have experience with formal project documentation
  • Experience with executive level client communication
  • PMP is not required or preferred; experience is the most important
Summary: Responsible for planning and managing a mix of tactical and strategic projects that are of medium to high complexity, cost and impact, and include 50 to 100 project team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
: Manages project initiation activities that include creating project scoping requirements and documentation, identifying contractual obligations, client needs and goals.

: Reviews plans to determine costs, timeline, funding, staffing requirements and goals.

: Develops project plans outlining project scope, activities, schedules, deadlines and cost/time estimates.

: Conducts regular project status meetings, provides meeting agendas, notes and weekly status to project team and stakeholders.

: Delivers informational and decision-seeking presentations to technical and business groups.

: Manages project risks, issues/problems, and activity progress to ensure project goals (e.g., deadline, scope and quality) are achieved. Assists with problem resolution or risk mitigation as needed.

: Coordinates activities and tasks among project team members, other internal departments and client organizations as needed to meet project goals.

: Seeks and develops more productive and effective ways to complete assigned tasks. Ensures fit with timeline, architecture and user needs.

: Conducts project closure activities to formalize and communicate the project acceptance, handover ongoing activities to accountable teams and complete a post implementation review to identify areas of improvement or that worked well.

: Builds strong, collaborative relationships and takes ownership of key initiatives across business levels and functions.

: May participate in pre-sales and due diligence activities by writing the project management methodology portion of the proposal and/or reviewing proposals.

: Improves department documentation standards or guidelines by making recommendations that result in cost or time savings.

: Provides training and some direction for project management team as needed.

: Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor's degree from a four year college or university in a related discipline.

Experience: 10+ years experience in project management including five years experience managing complex projects; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
: Extensive knowledge and experience utilizing various types of IT project methodologies and life cycles (e.g., conversions, client/server, incremental, rapid delivery, classic or traditional waterfall phases of analysis, design, development, testing, implementation) and the correct project application

: Extensive knowledge and skill in project management standards, processes, procedures and guidelines, and recommends improvements to realize efficiencies

: Extensive knowledge of communications/escalation management

: Advanced skill in the use of project management software to manage projects (e.g., MS Project and auxiliary tools, project repository, including risk, issues and action items database, PlanView)

: Skill in using a breadth of project experience and project management expertise to effectively transfer knowledge to any project situation (i.e., ranging from internal to conversions)

: Skill in leveraging knowledge and experience using the industry project management best practices (i.e., Project Management Body of Knowledge - PMBOK) to play a leadership role by providing feedback for continuous process improvement

: Skill in working with stakeholders to increase their understanding of potential risks and the steps being taken to mitigate them

: Skill in interviewing and conducting assessments to partner with clients and project teams to create an open, comfortable and win-win environment

: Skill in clearly defining client's business, fiscal, and functional objectives for the project and, then, preparing a scope statement that summarizes the project justification, major deliverables, and project objectives

: Demonstrated skill in managing budgets and timelines of small to large-sized projects

: Skill in the use of negotiation techniques to reach agreement when there are widely-differing viewpoints

: Skill in managing change to project scope

: Skill in analysis, problem solving and the implementing effective solutions

: Skill in innovation/creativity

: Ability to coach others in skills required to plan and estimate resource needs of complex projects

: Ability to oversee the development of schedules that result in on-time releases of large and complex projects

: Ability to use a variety of company and industry sources to assess and predict trends in estimating the resource needs of complex and large projects

: Ability to secure needed approval from senior management to changes in project budgets that accompany changes in project scope

: Ability to use meeting management, conflict management, presentation techniques and listening skills to facilitate effective project communications

: Ability to accurately differentiate issues and determine who needs to be consulted/updated and whether the issue requires escalation, effectively expediting decision-making on project-related issues as appropriate (e.g., effectively navigates the Fidelity matrix, follows project escalation path)

: Ability to understand and comply with the terms and conditions of the contract(s) within own area of responsibility; works with other to resolve contractual issues as they are identified

: Ability to provides timely project or sub-plan deliverables that align with the program plan structure (e.g., schedules, communications, configuration management, quality and staffing plans, interdependencies, metrics, status reports)

: Ability to maintain continuity and consistency across multiple plans within a program while providing project-level deliverables for the program communications plan

: Ability to support the overall program and look beyond the confines of the individual project for the best interests of the program

: Ability to understand the clients' needs, establish credibility and build effective relationships with client contacts

: Ability to maintain and coordinate productivity and to effectively manage workloads

: Ability to set clear expectations, manage team performance and build high morale among team members

: Ability to consistently set challenging goals and hold self and others firmly to timetables for accomplishing goals/tasks despite obstacles
