The Infusion Therapy Registered Nurse is charged with; performance of ordered procedures, interpretation of data/observations and documenting services rendered. The Infusion Therapy Registered Nurse must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The Infusion Therapy Registered Nurse must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures. In times of staff shortage or patient load, the Infusion Therapy Registered Nurse may be called upon to assist with Home Health visits.

Education and Training: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina . Chemotherapy, PICC/Midline/Extended Dwell training required.

Experience : At least two year's experience as a Registered Nurse is required. Previous experience in infusion and chemotherapy required. The Registered Nurse renders skilled nursing care to patients in an Out-patient setting according to approved departmental policies.

Environmental and Special Demands: Must have organizational skills and critical thinking skills. A fair amount of time is required for paperwork. Must have working knowledge of regulatory guidelines and quality standards regarding Ambulatory Infusion based nursing care. Knowledge of the area of service is needed.
