Provides leadership to the Highway-to-Rail (H2R) Sales team focused on delivering highway to rail conversion opportunities for small and medium sized accounts. Manages inbound inquiries on the use of CSX rail including, working with transportation intermediaries and beneficial cargo owners to deliver highway to rail conversion opportunities. Develops new customers. Provides solutions for complex problems that involve multiple factors and sources of information when handling potential customer inquiries.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities:
Provide leadership to a sales team accountable for selling and managing CSX Transportation (CSXT) services to beneficial cargo owner accounts.
Negotiate and close complex commercial proposals in conjunction with all relevant CSX groups including Marketing, Service Design, Operations, Customer Service, Industrial Development, etc.
Create and execute strategic account plans for the H2R (highway to rail) inside sales organization.
Establish measurements and feedback mechanisms to ensure customer requirements are met on a daily basis.
Lead and strengthen business relationships within CSXT and customer organizations while pushing each for improved performance or increased business levels.
Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager.
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution required in Business, Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Economics, or related major field of study
3 or more years of supervisory experience required in Business, Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Economics, Operations, or related field
Equivalent Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution required
5 or more years of supervisory experience required in Business, Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Economics, Operations, or related field
In addition to meeting the above qualifications, any of the following are preferred:
Masters degree from an accredited institution in Business, Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Economics, Operations, or related field
3 or more years of supervisory experience in Supply Chain Management or Fortune 500 Sales
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of Supply Chain Management concepts
Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools
Familiarity and experience with customer-facing Portfolio/Account Management
Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Powerpoint, and Word)
Time management, organizational and communication (verbal and written) skills
Strong analytical skills, including financial concepts & procedures
Strong interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
Demonstrated leadership skills
Ability to structure, negotiate and close business transactions
