Institutional Student Assistants work in a variety of positions across campus. Departments have varying job descriptions for student employees. Some tasks often include providing customer service to office visitors, staff, and faculty; running errands on campus, tutoring, lab assistance, facilities monitoring, handling money, and performing clerical tasks. Additional Position Summary Details:
Responsibilities include but not limited to helping create a prototype application using game engine for design visualization and evaluation of an aging-in-place (or universal design) project. The idea is to enable interactive design visualization in a game environment, and potentially support design evaluation through a checklist-based (the design criteria) game play. The application includes the setting (the building information model created using Autodesk Revit), the roles (senior people age 65+, probably in wheel chairs), the rule sets (checklist based aging-in-place design criteria), and the game play (navigation through the house with either pre-defined routes or free walk-through to conduct design review, and generate the compliance report).

Shift specifics: 10 hours per week.

Minimum Education Required:
Must be enrolled in 6 credit hours at Georgia Southern University at the time of employment and each semester thereafter.

Minimum Experience Required:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of game engine and game programming; knowledge of 3D building information modeling, open source database, and data exchange schema between Autodesk Revit and game engines (Unity); effective communication (verbal and written), organization, and human relations skills; proficient with Microsoft Applications software; ability to work with diverse populations; successful completion of background investigation prior to employment.
