LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: A valid first aid certificate issued by the American Red Cross may be required for some positions. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: two years of full-time college course work or an Associates Degree and verification of paid or volunteer experience working with children in an educational or child care setting.

JOB INFORMATION: Examinations will be given to establish an eligibility list to fill a current vacancy at Whitcomb High School and any other instructional aide openings which may occur during the six month term of the eligibility list. (The position is from 8:45 to 12:45 pm, Monday-Friday, and 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm on Wednesday, working with Adult Ed.)

BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Principal and assigned classroom teacher, assist in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of students in a classroom or an instructional resource setting; prepare instructional materials and perform a variety of clerical duties as assigned.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Knowledge of: Basic child guidance principles and practices; basic subjects including arithmetic grammar, spelling, language and reading; safe classroom practices; correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary; interpersonal skills, using tact, patience and courtesy; record-keeping techniques. Ability to: Perform clerical duties such as filing, duplicating and maintaining simple records; make arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately; understand and follow oral and written directions; learn methods and procedures to be followed in an instructional environment; work confidentially with discretion; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; conform to and support the assigned teacher's style of classroom management; supervise and discipline students according to approved policies and procedures; operate instructional and office equipment; learn the procedures, functions and limitations of assigned duties.
