A Principal Instructional Designer will work individually and in tandem with a team of instructional designers and multimedia specialists to create web-based and instructor-led learning solutions for global Halliburton partners. As such, a Principal Instructional Designer should possess sophisticated project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at any one time. In addition, a Principal Instructional Designer should champion adult learning theory and instructional methodology to influence decisions made in course design and development.

A Principal Instructional Designer must be able to consult with SMEs to revise and develop custom educational content, materials, manuals, quick reference guides, presentations, job aids and training guides as required. Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills, and expertise with writing scripts, narratives and storyboards will be necessary in the development of web-based projects. Furthermore, competence in applying effective learning methodologies and instructional design models in the development of instructor led training and e-learning training is necessary.

A Principal Instructional Designer should also be proficient in the use of web-based authoring tools, such as Captivate, Articulate, Storyline, or Lectora. Experience with the Adobe Suite of graphics/multimedia software and a basic knowledge of learning management systems is a plus.

The Principal role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 7-8 years of relevant work experience. A Master’s degree in HR, Education, or Instructional Design is a plus. Career advancement for this role is to Lead Instructional Designer.
