The Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship (CNDLS) is at the heart of Georgetown's effort to combine the best of its educational traditions with the tools, resources and opportunities of the new learning environments of the 21st century. Our programs promote active reflection and the development of learning experiences that effectively use technology to achieve defined teaching goals.
CNDLS is seeking to hire an Instructional Designer to support faculty from across the University as they develop, teach, and assess fully online, blended or hybrid, and face-to-face/classroom-based courses. The Designer will play an integral role in Georgetown’s recently announced Initiative for Technology-Enhanced Learning. He or she will need to be a team player and to be comfortable working in small, interdisciplinary teams.
Job responsibilities include:
? Consult with faculty to help them develop fully online, blended or hybrid, and face-to-face/classroom-based courses, modules, and instructional assets
? Help faculty to develop learning objectives and to align course materials and assignments with these objectives
? Advise faculty regarding accessibility criteria, assessment methods, and teaching strategies
? Work with CNDLS web and video production staff to integrate course materials appropriately into course design
? Work with other CNDLS staff to design and develop prototypes of pedagogically sound technologically-enhanced learning activities
? Work with other CNDLS staff to develop resource and training materials for faculty, including online course development guides
? Work with other CNDLS staff on faculty development and assessment projects as appropriate
? Masters degree in Instructional Design or related field. Ph.D. in an academic discipline (in addition to the Masters) a plus
? 3-5 years experience in higher education, with demonstrated knowledge of course design and development
? Experience in college teaching strongly preferred
? Proven ability to design and develop prototypes of instructionally-sound technology-enhanced learning activities
? Familiarity with formative and summative assessment designs and instruments
? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated competence working with university faculty
