University of Maryland University College (UMUC) seeks an Instructional Designer/Assessment Specialist in the Office ofInstructional Services and Support. The Instructional Designer/Assessment Specialist will work closely with faculty and OISS staff in formulating and refining student learning outcomes on the course and program levels and in selecting appropriate measures for competency-based assessments and student learning outcomes. The instructional Designer/Assessment Specialist will provide expertise, training, and support for faculty and staff in The Undergraduate School, The Graduate School, other UMUC divisions, and extra-university agencies, as needed, to plan, implement, and evaluate meaningful assessment activities to enhance student learning across the university.
Specific responsibilities include:
Identifying, designing, and implementing competency-based assessment tools to be used in online courses.
Applying instructional design techniques to materials, implementing new tools and strategies and appropriate technologies.
Facilitatingthe use of ¿best practices¿ in assessment and data to improve student learning.
Consult with instructional designers on the alignment of course and program outcomes and competencies.
Other job-related duties as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Masters degree in instructional design or related field, or a minimum of five (5) years demonstrated experience in educational outcomes and competency-based assessment.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years demonstrated experience in educational outcomes and competency-based assessment.
