Duties and Responsibilities
  • This position works within the financial aid unit of Kekaulike Information and Services and interacts with students, staff and counseling faculty.
  • Assist in all areas of financial aid services to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in operations; Initiates, recommends and implements changes in procedures.
  • Assists in specialized processing functions to support college‚Äôs operations in all financial aid areas.
  • Performs the day to day financial aid processing operations requiring specialized knowledge in subject matter area to resolve situations
  • Utilize human and technology resources to efficiently respond to all applications and requests received.
  • Assist in meeting financial aid reporting requirements.
  • Respond to student's individual needs and establish trust and rapport to be able to provide specialized counseling services.
  • Assist in developing approaches to meet financial needs of students.
  • Assist in designing and delivering training to on-campus and off-campus communities in all financial aid areas including providing outreach services.
  • Assist in recommending technology solutions to improve processes for students within existing campus/university policies.
  • Assist in assessing, recommending and implementing workflow and procedures when to achieve and improve performance goals
  • Assist in managing caseload distribution according to peaks and valleys in workload
  • Enhance, maintain and implement regular and specialized modifications to financial aid application processing based on state and federal regulations.
  • Keep updated and maintain specialized knowledge in all financial services areas.
  • Assist in compliance for campus-based loan programs.
  • Assist in monitoring and analyzing funding levels of federal, state, and institutional aid programs
  • Recommend and develop approaches to ensure outstanding financial aid services.
  • Assist in activities to maintain the low default rate held at the college.
  • Perform needs analysis to determine an expected family contribution and financial need
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in business, social sciences, technology, math, or education and 1 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for providing educational or project management services which included working with minority and disadvantaged groups; or equivalent education/training or experience.
  • Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in financial aid services demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
  • Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with financial aid services.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the financial aid services.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
  • Ability to utilize technology and current systems to increase productivity and improve processing services.
