The Chemistry Instructor position is a full-time position with the Bioscience Technology Department, Division of Health and Public Safety. This position requires a passion, demonstrated through experience, for effective teaching and advising of diverse students plus excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated commitment to the college mission. Responsibilities include developing, teaching and implementing inorganic, organic and biochemistry lecture and laboratory courses,
But may have other teaching assignments as needed. The instructor will also be instrumental in the development of the Bioscience Technology Program by serving on departmental and college committees, councils, working as a team member in curriculum development, assisting in course coordination, providing academic counseling and guidance to students, and participating in other college and community outreach and other community service activities consistent with the mission of Atlanta Technical College and Technical College System of Georgia. This instructor is also required to participate in commencement and convocation activities as well as special college meetings.
Minimum Training & Experience: A degree from an accredited college or university *and* completed courses comparable with the curriculum taught. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned.
Agency Specific Qualifications and/or Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely related field with at least 18 semester graduate hours in chemistry. At least 3 years related work experience in chemistry, bioscience or biotechnology and documented evidence of classroom and
Laboratory instruction in a related field. Additional analytical chemistry experience is desired. Must be able to prepare lesson plans, develop program and syllabi, goals and objectives and evaluate student progress in attaining goals and objectives. Must
Demonstrate proficiency with knowledge of laboratory techniques and concepts related to chemistry and bioscience.
QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field. Five years related work experience
In chemistry, bioscience, or biotechnology with a combination of industry and classroom and laboratory work experience in bioscience. Additional analytical chemistry experience is desired. Must be able to prepare lesson plans, develop program and syllabi, goals and objectives and evaluate student progress in attaining goals and objectives. Must demonstrate proficiency with knowledge of laboratory techniques and concepts related to bioscience.
