POSITION: Instructor, advertising; this is a term position.

EFFECTIVE DATE: August 16, 2013

QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master's degree in Advertising, or a related field required. Preference will be given to applicants who 1) have a record of creative activities and experience in working in the advertising industry, 2) have a record of excellence in teaching or a demonstrated aptitude for teaching, or 3) possess new media skills. Preference will also be given to those who can contribute to a climate that values and uses diversity in all its forms to enliven and make more inclusive the mission of the School.

DUTIES: Teach courses in advertising in such areas as copywriting, campaign planning, graphic communication and mentoring student to participate in national competitions. (Opportunities are available to mentor students who are involved in the American Advertising Federation's annual campaign competition).

THE SCHOOL: The School of Journalism seeks to add a diversity of experiences and viewpoints to an outstanding full-time faculty of twenty committed teachers and scholars. The School features modern computer-equipped classroom, and participates in masters and doctoral degree programs in the College of Mass Communication Arts, as well as the College's Global Media Research Center. The Daily Egyptian, SIU Carbondale's award winning student newspaper, is located within the School. Opportunities are available to mentor Daily Egyptian students, participate in the Global Media Research center and contribute to the school's Gateway Journalism Review. The School is fully accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication. * The Carbondale campus has an enrollment of 18,000 and annually ranks among the top institutions in the nation for producing minority graduates. http://www.siu.edu/departments/journal/
