Responsible presenting information including anatomy and physiology of the reproductive cycle, growth and development of the fetus, health during pregnancy, as well as all aspects of labor and delivery and post-partum. Will act as advocate for women and will help the pregnant woman explore options for her own care. Responsible for leading group discussions and presenting techniques for relaxation and well-being during labor and birth.

Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc

N.J. Licensed Registered Nurse. BLS required. Two to four years recent labor and delivery experience. One to three years experience demonstrating strong teaching and leadership skills. One to three years experience demonstrating organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Certification preferred from any of the following organizations: CES, NACES, ASPO or ICEA. Within one year from becoming an instructor, it is recommended that they should obtain certification from one of the above organizations, if not already certified.

Spanish preferred.

Must observe one entire childbirth class series, prepare and submit a personal class syllabus for the Childbirth Training Center’s approval. Must teach, with supervision, one entire class series.

Work Environment and Hazards:
Works within a well ventilated, well lighted classrooms. Duties may require some traveling. No known accident or health hazards exist.

Special Physical Demands:
Demands appropriate to teaching Must be physically able to demonstrate exercises to class. May involve carrying average to heavy weights such as audio-visual equipment, handouts and supplies.
