Science Education at the University of Northern Iowa is seeking to fill an interdisciplinary renewable term instructor position. Successful candidates will be expected to teach Inquiry into Life Science and either one or both of the following courses, which are Liberal Arts Core science courses for Elementary Education majors: Inquiry into Earth and Space Science; Inquiry into Physical Science. Additional courses include the Exploring Science Teaching Seminar and possibly the Undergraduate Biology Teaching Practicum. Other assignments include secondary science teaching major advising and supervision of the Science Education Resource Center. |
Minimum of a masters degree required.
Biology course work at both the undergraduate and graduate levels commensurate with teaching an introductory college life science course, plus course work at one or both degree levels to support teaching an introductory college course in either physical science (physics and chemistry) or Earth science required. Additional requirements include at least three years of grade K-12 teaching experience that includes using an inquiry teaching approach, and familiarity with the Iowa Core science content standards or the Next Generation Science Standards.
Some college science teaching experience and familiarity with kit-based K-8 science curricula preferred.
