Major/Essential Duties of Job
The Instructor for the water and wastewater program will conduct water and wastewater laboratory courses, both classroom and hands-on utilizing the mobile training lab. The position is also responsible for maintaining the fixed lab facilities located at our Riverside Campus location. In addition, this position is to deliver and conduct training courses for water and wastewater utility personnel to increase their technical competence and skills. Duties include preparing and updating lesson plans, maintaining technical competence, and developing teaching aids. The work involves traveling to remote course locations, providing classroom and field instruction, providing technical assistance, and assisting students achieve their educational and licensing goals. This position will report to the Training Manager.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Will allow for equivalency of training and experience.
Work Experience (Months/Years) and Skills Required
Three years of experience in water/wastewater laboratory procedures and the operation, maintenance, design, construction, or regulation of water utility systems with a bachelor's degree. (Five years of experience with an associate's degree. Seven years of experience with a high school diploma or GED). One year of experience in training adults and 60 hours of classroom instructional experience OR Completion of approved Instructor training courses in: 1. Methods of Teaching OR Effective Instructional Techniques AND 2. Instructional Design and Evaluation OR Organization and Use of Instructional Materials
Preferred Experience and Education
Texas Class "C" Water and "C" Waste-water licenses as issued by TCEQ. Current valid driver's license.
Computer/keyboard/telephone. Communicate orally and in writing.
