PHYSICAL SCIENCES DIVISION
The Department of Statistics at the University of Chicago invites applications from exceptionally qualified candidates for a two-year, full-time position as Instructor. We seek recent or expected Ph.D. graduates doing advanced research with a connection to statistical theory or methodology. As part of a University of Chicago initiative, applicants would be expected to work in scientifically focused computation or applied mathematics. It is expected that all successful applicants will engage in teaching at the undergraduate level. Applicants must have a doctorate in statistics or some field of mathematics or science where statistical concepts or methods play an important role or must receive the doctorate in one of these areas prior to beginning employment. A demonstrated research excellence is essential, and research connections to faculty in the Department of Statistics (http://www.stat.uchicago.edu/people/faculty.shtml) or other faculty involved in the Computational and Applied Mathematics Initiative (http://www.stat.uchicago.edu/cami/) is encouraged.
