Renal Transplant NP or PA
The nature of work is clinical care of patients in the field of kidney transplantation. The Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension is seeking an Instructor of Medicine to see kidney transplant patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting. The Instructor will be responsible for the pre-transplant evaluation of patients with chronic kidney disease and work with physicians in determining appropriate testing and transplant candidacy. The Instructor will be responsible for seeing patients interested in living kidney donation and performing history and physical examinations, review diagnostic testing, and provide educational guidance to potential living kidney donors. The Instructor will see patients following kidney transplantation and be responsible for history and physical examination, checking medication dosages and adjusting medications, checking laboratory values and general health assessment including management of risk factors for cardiovascular disease and malignancy.
Duties in this faculty position will include:
Clinically: Management of patients following kidney transplantation including immunosuppression, hypertension, diabetes, bone disease, health care maintenance in the outpatient setting. Initial history and physical examinations of potential kidney and kidney-pancreas transplant candidates and living kidney donors. There will be the potential for expanding practice into the inpatient setting.
Education: Participation in morning educational conferences within the Renal Division and the Transplant section.
Teaching: Serving as preceptor for students from the master’s program.
Research: Supporting the current nephrology studies within the Division.
Master Degree of Nursing and National Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner, or Nursing Doctorate Practitioner, or Physician Assistant
Required Competencies/Knowledge, Skills and abilities
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado (current). Certification as a Nurse Practitioner, Nursing Doctorate, or Physician Assistant, (current). Prior professional experience in the care of patients with chronic illness to include ESRD , Diabetes, Hypertension, and Gastrointestinal Disorders.
