Founded in 1980, NCSSM is a state-supported residential school for students who have demonstrated exceptional talent or interest in science, mathematics, and technology. NCSSM is inviting faculty who are willing to hear the call of its motto: “I accept the higher challenge.” We are a vibrant, growing, and close-knit community, united by our commitment to our students, our passion for learning, and for sharing what we have learned with our students—both in and outside the classroom. The Humanities Program includes university-level interdisciplinary courses, but also a variety of sophisticated electives. The center of the program is a team-taught American Studies class. American Studies doubles as the base of the NCSSM Writing Program, which emphasizes writing in context. |
