Germanna Community College is seeking an innovative and collaborative individual to join the faculty as an Instructor or Assistant Professor of Accounting. The successful candidate will teach freshman and sophomore level Accounting classes. In addition to primary teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate must be willing to assume leadership in departmental and college-wide committees, curriculum development, assessment of student learning and course/program effectiveness, academic support services including advising students and student recruitment; as well as student and community engagement.
The College desires applicants with a commitment to the community college mission; teaching, learning, and student success,; integration of learning outcomes assessment into course development and teaching; use of current and emerging technologies to enhance instruction; and integration of diversity and global perspectives in instruction. Finalists will be invited to present a short sample lesson.
This is a nine-month faculty position. Salary is commensurate with rank and credentials plus State benefits. Appointment date: August 16, 2013. Position will be filled contingent upon available funding.
Master's degree in Accounting or master's degree in a related field and at least 18 graduate semester hours in Accounting from an accredited institution and college-level teaching experience
Master's degree or doctorate in Accounting
Experience with curriculum development, assessment, use of instructional technology
Strong oral and written communication skills
Community college teaching experience
Demonstrated student learning in courses taught
