Job Knowledge and Responsibilities:
Instrumentation & Electrical Reliability Engineer position provides technical expertise to the Maintenance & Reliability Organization. Position provides counseling and consulting on a variety of process and equipment issues, including detailed calculations in order to make cost effective decisions and recommendations. Knowledge and understanding of sound engineering practices and principles relating to electrical and instrumentation equipment & of electrical equipment design, installation and maintenance, including hands on troubleshooting. Responsible for : Conducting root cause investigations of electrical and instrumentation equipment failures Leading reliability centered maintenance, Criticality and FMEA studies Projecting electrical and instrumentation equipment maintenance capital needs and running projects as appropriate Management of predictive maintenance programs including motor testing, thermography, UPS testing, transformer oil testing and routine calibrations Acting as owner of electrical and instrumentation equipment standards Establishing and driving reliability engineering principles and best practices. Providing technical support to the capital organization for new equipment purchases
Bachelors of Electrical Engineering with at least 7 years of experience in the chemical, petrochemical or refining industry . Must have Experience : In the application of reliability methodologies/technologies, understanding of equipment damage mechanisms. Hands on experience with instrumentation and electrical equipment In writing or interpreting internal or Industry standards for electrical and instrumentation equipment, be an excellent communicator, strong leader, have solid interpersonal skills and be able to deal with all levels in the organization. Balanced strategic and tactical focus, be creative and innovative, and demonstrate outstanding problem solving, analytical, organizational, and planning skills. Excellent computer skills, excellent verbal and writing skills along with computer skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. As a self-starter and have high standards. Well-developed leadership skills in a professional environment; competent working in a cross-functional matrix environment Ability to handle complex, abstract problems from identification to resolution and ability to think in overall broad terms and negotiate solutions with other related organizations.
Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience:
Experience with power distribution coordination, control valve troubleshooting, design and tuning; predictive technologies; motor testing, transformer testing and UPS testing; PLC’s and distributed control systems; Analyzer design and maintenance and instrumentation calibration requirements
