Flint Hills Resources Pine Bend Refinery in Rosemount, Minn., is among the top processors of Canadian crude in the United States and a leader in providing cleaner-burning and high-performance fuels. The refinery produces fuels such as gasoline, diesel, propane and butane, used throughout Minnesota and the Upper Midwest. It supplies much of the jet fuel used at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. The refinery, which celebrated 50 years of operation in 2005, also manufactures asphalt, heating fuels, and sulfur for fertilizers.
The Instrument Equipment Engineer role will provide project support to both Maintenance Engineering projects and Capital projects by maintaining an awareness of Instrument Standards, flagging project issues relative to those standards to appropriate Instrument Technology Owners and supporting the change management process when non-standard designs are required.
Additionally, this role will develop Instrument related scopes that are based on sound and economically viable repair/replacement decisions via the Maximo (CMMS) work flow process. An ability to identify, develop and champion improvements in the work flow process is expected. Experience with RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis) methodologies and application to problem solving on a micro and macro level are a must.
Demonstrable skills in critical and economic thinking and capturing this through strong written and verbal communication skills are required in this role. The ability to identify, develop and champion improvements in the reliability capabilities of the Work Execution organization is greatly desired.
The successful candidate will be able to excel in a multi-functional team and be able to prioritize multiple business requests.
Work Experience/Skills Required:
Engineering degree in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical
5 + years instrument reliability related work experience in an industrial setting (sensors, final control elements, relay logic, etc.)
Work Experience/Skills Preferred:
5+ years engineering work experience in refining or petrochemical environment in Instrumentation Reliability (sensors, final control elements, relay logic, etc.)
