Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: (Note: these are subject to change as business and other conditions required):

Multi-skilled position responsible for performing preventive and general maintenance and technical repair work on instrumentation and electrical equipment and parts associated with that equipment in both a plant and field setting. Participates in installing all instrumentation and electrical components safely. Has the ability to troubleshoot problems with equipment. Runs conduit, pulls wire, changes motors, and maintains lighting systems and basic motor controls. Maintains and troubleshoots other plant control systems and complex equipment, e.g., turbines, generators, boilers, etc. May maintain, modify and troubleshoot Distributive Control Systems (DCS) and/or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) to maximize use of control technology and minimize installation and operating costs. Maintains advanced monitoring devices (gas, flame, or fire detectors, vibration and temperature monitors). Is able to read P& ID and electrical diagrams and other complex electrical drawings; interprets plant electrical diagrams. Updates electrical drawings. Installs, troubleshoots and maintains end devices, alarms, shutdown systems, process controls, substation and branch feeders, variable frequency drives, air/fuel controllers, panel boards, etc. Performs preventative and general maintenance on electronic and pneumatic equipment and parts associated with this equipment (which includes working near energized circuits over 440 volts). Is familiar with AC voltage (120-480) three phase and single phase plus 24 VDC. Has knowledge of plant processes, electrical layout, safety systems and area classifications. May work independently or with various groups to deal with issues that may arise. Uses hand tools, power tools, and electronic diagnostic equipment. Performs clean up associated with tasks. Provides training and technical support as required. Other duties and projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be literate in Wonder Ware display software and Siemens’ TI 505 type PLC equipment with proven experience not less than 5 years.

Ability to produce understandable and accurate reports and records.

Is computer literate.

Is able to examine/analyze equipment for defects.

Uses hand tools, power tools and electronic diagnostic equipment.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record.

Must have reliable means of contact for call-out purposes and must be willing to take callouts and work overtime.

Ability to follow written or spoken work instructions in English.

Must have a minimum of a High School degree or equivalent.

Must have record of very positive work performance, very good safety record, ability to perform work independently, history of being dependable and reliable, good organizational skills, good customer relations.

Must be willing to work overtime and handle call-outs.

Candidate to live or relocate to within 35 miles of reporting location.

Must be currently qualified as I & E Tech Level I or II or be able to pass qualifying tests -- performing at or above established standards or perform well enough on tests to be selected as an I & E Tech trainee.

Desired Qualifications:
Has actual operating knowledge of plant processes as well as knowledge of operations and maintenance of gas processing facilities and dehydration systems.

Understands equipment repair manuals; federal, state and local codes and regulations: schematic, wiring diagrams, layouts, codes, standards (incl. company standards and other regulations).

Ability to work well with others.

Working Conditions:
Works indoors and outdoors, in and around mechanical, industrial and electrical equipment. Required to climb about equipment and work in confined areas. Works in temperature extremes due to weather conditions and operating equipment. Wears safety equipment as required. Uses physical force to lift, push, pull and hold equipment and tools. Climbs and works at various heights and may work in a standing, sitting, lying down, crouched or kneeling position. Routinely reacts to visual, aural and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work. Must be able to regularly bend, stoop, move from ground level to higher levels, raise/lift from ground level a load up to 50 lbs., manually transport a load up to 75 lbs., apply up to 100 foot pounds of torque. Must have the ability to get in and out of vehicles regularly and ride over rough roads. Occasionally must wear special safety equipment while working and must be able to lift and put on emergency breathing apparatus and/or protective equipment.

Candidate will be subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements.

Job may be staffed at any of the following levels depending on qualifications and experience: I & E Tech I, I & E Tech II, Utility III or I & E Tech X.
