GE is an equal opportunity employer, offering a great work environment, challenging career opportunities, professional training and competitive compensation.In this role of Instrumentation and Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for development of control system philosophy, selection of instrumentation, and programming of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), PC-Based Human-Machine-Interface stations, SCADA or other control systems for water treatment equipment. In this role, you will:
Perform design and develop documents including Control Logic Diagrams, Shutdown Keys, Loop Diagrams, Instrument Indices, Setpoint Lists, DCS and PLC Design, Instrument Location and Installation Design
Develop control system architecture for PLC and HMI systems and select appropriate hardware (develop panel layouts)
Develop the I&C portion of P&ID’s. Attend P&ID review and Hazop meetings with internal teams and customers
Size and specify instrumentation such as control valves, temperature transmitters, flow meters, gauges (generate instrument datasheets via spreadsheet and database manipulation)
Interface with suppliers for preliminary costing, component selection, and submittal document review
Interface with customers regarding I&C designs and submitted design documents
Understand and assess client problems and determine appropriate means of solution
Perform control system factory acceptance tests with Clients and client-designated representatives
Troubleshoot control system control problems; Implement software and hardware solutions to resolve problems (troubleshooting may occur in the field or from remote terminals), perform field loop checks, commission and start up control system in the field
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (or a High School diploma / GED with a minimum of 5 years of experience specifying and applying instrumentation and control equipment in power plants, chemical process facilities, petroleum refineries or wastewater treatment plants)
Minimum of 3 years of experience commissioning DCS, PLC or SCADA Control Systems
Ability and willingness to travel up to 40% of the time domestically and internationally as required
Ability and willingness to support work at remote construction sites
Ability and willingness to access equipment via ladders & stairs
Ability and willingness to lift 30 lbs as required
Ability and willingness to wear and use Personal Protective Equipment as required
Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of experience as Programmable Logic Controller programmer
Strong communication skills, both written and oral
Minimum of 1 year of experience design and commissioning Foundation Field Bus or Hart Protocol Networks
Training in Lock-Out / Tag-Out procedures preferred
