About the Insurance Compliance Specialist Role
The Insurance Compliance Specialist is responsible for the compliance operations of a managing general insurance agency. Reporting to our Associate General Counsel, the Insurance Compliance Specialist will manage daily and seasonal operations with agents and adjusters as well as annual and periodic licensing audits and reviews. May supervise, train or mentor Support staff as needed.

This position requires someone experienced with the federal crop insurance program and state insurance requirements who can multi task and manage their own work where volume is unpredictable from day to day. The ideal candidate will not only be excellent at what they do, but bring a hands-on, flexible, and enthusiastic perspective that matches our technology-driven, innovative, fast-paced environment.

Activate all new agencies, agents and adjusters including verification of licensing, appointments, contracts and all applicable certifications.

Monitor licenses of agencies, agents and adjusters using national and state databases and manage all related communications on behalf of the company.

Research and maintain records of federal and state requirements for agency, agent, adjuster licensing and continuing education.

Develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure all required training and testing of agencies, agents and adjusters.

Identify and resolve errors involving agency, agent and adjuster compliance verifications.

Terminate agencies, agents and adjusters as directed, including required notifications to all federal, state and applicable carrier or agency databases.

Manage all adjuster and agent continuing education requirements to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and internal Quality Control standards.

Develop and maintain the company’s state and federal education provider-status, including records and filings for individual trainers employed or engaged by company.

Manage National Sales licensing, appointments and training calendars (including regional conferences and workshops) by working cross-functionally to develop, implement and maintain current educational materials.

Manage National Underwriting training calendars and all related SRA reporting obligations.

Manage National Claims adjuster licensing (including CAPP certification), training calendars (including regional conferences and workshops) and all related SRA reporting obligations by working cross-functionally to develop, implement and maintain current educational materials.

Serve as company’s subject matter expert for business requirements and systems implementation for reporting all related compliance activities; including internal audits, conflict of interest reviews, RMA reviews and state Department of Insurance market conduct examinations and corrective action plans.

Performs all user acceptance testing for compliance systems functionality.

Attends and coordinates all adjuster and agent training events to research questions and/or escalate within the legal department.

Supports Claims in legal arbitration and litigation audits and reviews, as needed.

Supports Compliance Director in field compliance reviews.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree

Typically a minimum of 6 years of federal crop insurance program and/or Property insurance compliance experience at insurance company, managing general agency and/or insurance brokerage with a proven track record or results in federal crop insurance preferred.

Multi-state experience in insurance compliance operations and audits required.

Strong analytical, teamwork, written and oral communication required.

Federal crop insurance product experience required.

AICP membership and/or ARC designation preferred.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Advanced level of federal crop and/or property insurance knowledge, including agency licensing and appointments requirements.

Advanced level of federal crop insurance claims knowledge, including CAPP certification and continuing education requirements.

Ability to understand technical and complex commercial insurance products.

Proficiency in learning and understanding new technology systems.

Demonstrated ability to innovate and lead process improvements for cross-functional insurance company operations team.

Professional demeanor interacting with agencies, federal and state insurance regulators.

Experienced supervising and scheduling the work of others.
