Essilor of America, Inc. (Essilor), is the leading manufacturer and wholesaler of prescription lenses in the United States.

We currently have an Intellectual Property Paralegal career opportunity at our Dallas, TX location.

Job Duties:
• Provide support for
o 2 to 3 patent counsels of Essilor IP Department (IPD) in their patent activities and
o administrative matters re patent and trademark prosecution and maintenance
• Patents
o Update daily patent legal information in patent database (CPA Memotech)
o Follow deadlines, send extension orders, entry into the national phase, EP validations, examination requests, and granting fees
o Prepare and manage power of attorney forms, inventor declarations and assignments
o Assist in preparation of patent committee documents
o Provide input into the patent database from the patent committee
o Prepare and file relevant documents for the USPTO filings
o Preparation and filing of U.S. foreign filing licenses
o Search for documents from legal contracts databases
o Prepare and maintain patent family trees
o Prepare and maintain electronic files
o Order file histories and reference articles, when necessary
o Coordinate documents with law firms
• Trademarks (for the U.S. part of the Group Corporate Trademarks, and eventually the local trademarks, in support to the Trademark Managers, located in France)
o Update daily U.S. trademark and design information in the trademark database (CPA Memotech).
o Follow U.S. trademark and design deadlines, send orders, renewals, requests, and prepare and manage Powers of Attorney.
• Misc.
• Schedule and coordinate travel and meetings, and coordinate IT support for IP trainings.
• Provide support and coordination for Charenton IPD colleagues visiting the US.

Desired qualifications:
Paralegal certificate required;
4 year college degree preferred.
3-6 years of experience in an intellectual property law firm or corporate IP department (including practice in using IP management database, patent/trademark filing and prosecution activities as well as data entries and due dates follow-up).
Ability to thrive in a fast-pace, dynamic environment, efficiency, focus, flexibility, attention to detail, team player, and a good attitude is a must.
Notary certified a plus.
Fluency in French language a plus, but not required.
Specific training on Essilor databases will be provided, as necessary.
Travel: at least one week of training required in Essilor headquarters located in Charenton le Pont, France
