Daemen College is seeking an Intensive English Program Director. Duties include those associated with the creation of an IEP program: launch, accredit and grow the program. We are seeking candidates with previous experience as Director or Assistant Director in an IEP. Previous experience with IEP accreditation bodies is strongly desired as is ESL teaching experience. Candidates are expected to have a background in Second Language Acquisition, Applied Linguistics and TESOL. Preference is for a PhD in SLA or AL with TESOL experience, however candidates with an MA in TESOL will also be considered. Duties below are meant to be representative, not restrictive.

• Launch, accredit and manage an IEP program with the responsibility of moving the program toward accreditation
• Articulate program goals; establish a standard curriculum; Articulate program policies and procedures in written form; dissemination and oversight of this information to IEP staff
• Hiring and oversight of ESL faculty and staff; provide formal written feedback to IEP department members; articulate position responsibilities to IEP members
• Oversee, facilitate, and coordinate IEP orientation with the College’s orientation;
• Support and participate in professional development;
• Demonstrate cross-cultural knowledge and sensitivity
• Work closely with the Department of Modern Languages
• Establish admission criteria and procedures; provide access to the necessary student services
• Market and recruit the program; work with recruiters in charge of International Admissions
• Assessment – institute program and student assessment; (faculty, staff, and student)
• A minimum of a MA in TESOL (with preference for a PhD in Applied Linguistics with ESL related experience)
• Teaching and administrative experience in an IEP or a college-bound ESL program
• Experience and knowledge in curricular design, assessment, educational technology
• Involvement/membership in professional organizations TESOL, NAFSA, AAAIEP or UCIEP
• Demonstrated professional development
• Demonstrated ability to assume a leadership role and to work collegially
• Bilingual or multilingual abilities in English and another language
• Experience as a director or assistant director of an IEP
• Experience with accreditation processes with AAIEP and/or CEA
