This position provides environmental engineering support to refinery operations on air, water, groundwater, and/or waste issues. Obtains permits, provides support on environmental compliance issues and pollution prevention and management efforts. Prepares reports required by permits and applicable regulations/rules. Interprets regulations and develops compliance strategies to meet applicable regulations and associated record keeping requirements. Interacts closely with operations personnel, regulators, and public.
Leads environmental regulatory efforts relating to air and applicable regulations such as Title V permit, MACT, New Source Review, Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR); solid and hazardous waste, wastewater, Risk Management Plan (RMP), Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA), SARA/CERCLA, and other applicable environmental regulations.
Prepares reports and coordinates studies and testing, including: air emissions monitoring, soil and groundwater monitoring and other testing that may be required by environmental regulations or permits.
Prepares permit applications, amendments and renewals. Prepares and submits federal, state and other applicable reports. Corresponds with federal, local and state agencies and public as necessary.
Writes and updates environmental procedures for areas of regulatory expertise.
Develops training materials and provides environmental compliance training to refinery personnel.
Education and Experience
Minimum bachelor's degree in environmental engineering or related engineering field typically required. Minimum 7 years environmental compliance experience in refinery or petrochemical industry typically required.
