      This internship position will support the development of strong business relationships within the Human Resources and Communications department as well as across the various business/functional units. The position will be focused upon developing and delivering human resources solutions to address business needs and improve results. The internship will allow for exposure, through a rotation, to the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) function at Tesoro and the Centers of Excellence managing talent acquisition, compensation and benefits.
            Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence (COE) to address talent, compensation and benefits issues affecting client group. Support HRBP(s) in partnering with business managers to deliver HR solutions to business challenges. Participate in initiatives between HR and business units to design and implement strategies in alignment with business and HR objectives. Assist with the implementation of HR programs and solutions in the business; collaborate with COEs to provide business-specific feedback. Support HRBP(s) in consulting with employees and managers to optimize job satisfaction, engagement and productivity: Assist in investigations related to policy/procedural infractions; organize appropriate documentation. Help to advise employees and managers regarding application of Human Resources policies and procedures. Duration: Summer 2013 Hours per week: 40 Qualifications Education: Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program pursuing a degree in human resources or a related field. Upper level classification preferred. 3.0 minimum GPA strongly preferred. Skills and Capabilities: Professional demeanor. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Team player; demonstrated ability to collaborate. Strong analytical skills and proven attention to detail; problem-solver. Effective time management and organization; resourceful.
