The Intern, Infrastructure position will be exposed to all facets of our organization’s Infrastructure Department. They will spend time on the Help Desk answering the phone, work with the Help Desk Technicians in problem resolution and hardware and software installation. The Intern, Infrastructure will be exposed to UNIX and Storage Administration, Network Administration, Server Administration, and Voice Over IP (VoIP) Administration. The position will also work on general Infrastructure management and administration, and on tasks related to IT Asset Management, IT Project Management and Help Desk Management.
This is a full-time 2014 summer internship and will require someone who can work at least 40 hours per week. Start and end dates will be based on availability and business need.

Provide a single point of contact between technical computer support staff and end- users.
Performs problem determination with the objective of resolving as many problems as soon as possible, preferably on the first call to the Help Desk
Escalate problem resolution when first level determination fails.
Supports end-users via telephone and/or site visit regarding various system problems
Address general system problems on LAN and/or access to other systems or internet access.
Assist in installation of workstations, printers, and software deployment as needed
Assist networking staff on installations as necessary
Assist Infrastructure Manager with general administrative tasks
Assist with IT Asset Management Tasks including
Verification of inventory and preparation of inventory reports
Preparation of inventory aging analysis
Assist in management of laptop and printer replacement cycle
Assist in preparing, refining, and publishing Infrastructure documentation
Nonessential function: other duties as assigned.
General knowledge of personal computer hardware, software, and terminology
General computer skills
Proficient use Microsoft Office Word and Excel
Good written and oral communication skills
Ability to compile information and interpret technical information in a user friendly format
Some exposure to operating systems and networking helpful
Must be currently enrolled and have completed at least 60 credit hours with an accredited college or university.
Preference may be given to those pursuing a degree in IT Management or related field.
