The Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights, a progressive human rights organization based in Washington, DC, seeks a Research Intern for one of its core programs focused on global human rights education.

Launched in June 2013, RFK Project SEATBELT aims to provide research-based information and resources to create safe environments that prevent bullying everywhere youth live, learn, and play. The mission of RFK Project SEATBELT is to create the conditions at home, at school, and in the community so that treating EVERYONE with respect becomes the norm – in other words, it becomes as automatic as putting on a seat belt in a car.

Responsibilities:

Interns will be asked to perform a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
• Updating a list of definitions contained in state anti-bullying laws
• Drafting materials for the Project SEATBELT website, including blog posts
• Updating and monitoring the Facebook and Twitter pages for Project SEATBELT
• Responding to email inquiries received from Project SEATBELT website
• Assisting in developing campaign materials and events
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate would: be an upper level undergraduate or graduate student; have an interest in bullying prevention of other school climate and education issues; have a basic familiarity with child development and education, demonstrated through a major in psychology, sociology, or education; have experience tracking state legislation using LexisNexis; have excellent writing skills and ability to translate research into user-friendly language.
Please note that internships are unpaid.
