The Time Warner Cable Corporate office currently seeks an Intern for our: State Income Tax Department. The TWC NYC/Charlotte Corporate Internship Program is designed to offer undergraduate students the opportunity to learn how our premier telecommunications company operates while gaining invaluable experience as they embark upon their prospective careers. The State Income Tax Intern will prepare support documents for state tax returns as well as have entry level review responsibilities of state partnership and corporate returns. The intern will also draft written responses to state notices which may involve research into prior year filings and/or appropriate application of the law. Intern will also conduct research into current or prospective tax positions and draft memorandums outlining facts and supported conclusions. The intern will support income tax staff accountants and managers in special projects undertaken in the summer months. The program is 10 weeks and is a paid internship, 40 hours per week. Please note we do not provide housing.
Must plan to return to school the semester following internship (undergraduate or graduate)
Open to students pursuing undergraduate, graduate or law school degrees.
Must have permanent US work authorization.
Should have experience or coursework relevant to business need.

The role of the summer State Income Tax Intern is to support the income tax team with compliance and ad hoc consulting projects as well as routine staff level work with regard to notices and administration. The purpose of the role is to provide the intern the opportunity to become familiar with the state income tax functional area within the Tax Department.
Project Title and Project Objective:
Specific tasks will include entry level production of support documents for state tax returns and tax return review. Intern will also draft responses to state notices and under supervision, have contact with specific state agencies concerning notices (e.g., contacting states for further detail regarding notices and involvement with supervisors on conflict resolutions). Other projects will include research on state related topics, provision support, and estimated tax calculation responsibilities.
The Tax Intern must have familiarity with computer programs such as Microsoft Excel and Word in order to work in spreadsheet files or to create memoranda to file. Access experience is a plus. In addition, the intern will have access and be trained to use tax specific software used for apportionment and data management. The Tax Intern must be well organized, able to multitask, proactive and must be able to read and comprehend tax return instructions. Good communications skills are a prerequisite. The Tax Intern must be a team player and be proactive in working projects with others.
Final Product or Outcome of Project:
The intern should be exposed to the day to day environment of a large corporate tax department.
