We seek an enthusiastic student working toward an advanced degree in biology, biochemistry, or related field to prepare and analyze fluorescently labeled proteins. Previous laboratory experience in protein labeling and analysis using gel electrophoresis are a plus. Experience in working with magnetic beads for isolation, purification, or enrichment of biomolecules is preferred. The ability to write code for a liquid handling system is highly desired. After initial training, the intern will perform experiments with minimal supervision. This will include basic laboratory tasks such as preparing buffers and reagents used for protein modifications, archiving data in a laboratory notebook and basic maintenance of laboratory equipment. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to participate effectively in multidisciplinary teams are essential.
Responsible for preparing and analyzing fluorescently-labeled proteins and for modifying code for a liquid handling system. With some guidance, plan and execute laboratory procedures in a clinical setting, adapting or modifying experimental methods to solve problems. With some guidance, critically analyze analytical data and interpret results.
Working toward a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Biology, Biochemistry or other related discipline. Strong “hands-on” skills in a laboratory setting are a must, as is the ability to communicate effectively with people in other disciplines. Experience in labeling proteins and gel electrophoresis are a plus but not requirements.
The candidate should have experience in a biology/biochemistry laboratory setting.
