Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) is the master planning, creative development, design, engineering, production, project management, and research and development arm of Disney’s Parks and Resorts business segment. Representing more than 150 disciplines, its talented corps of Imagineers are responsible for the creation of Disney resorts, theme parks and attractions, hotels, water parks, real estate developments, regional entertainment venues, cruise ships and new media technology projects.
Responsibilities
WDI is seeking an intern to be part of a team that will be working with the Environmental Design & Engineering (ED&D) Electrical Department. The ED&E Electrical Department is responsible for the electrical systems at the Resorts, including power distribution, communications, lighting, fire alarm, and security. We also work closely with the Show and Ride groups. Intern responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Electrical calculations for the theme park; Performing special tasks and projects as assigned; Work with other disciplines and departments.
Basic Qualifications
Demonstrated/proven strong leadership, technical and interpersonal skills
• Must be a team player with strong written and verbal communications skills
• Self‐starter with demonstrated initiative ‐ able to handle multiple tasks and priorities
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office skills (esp. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• Experience with Electrical Load Calculation programs such as SKM or Easy Power
• Experience with Title 24 or similar energy calculations a plus
Preferred Education
Electrical Engineering major (BSEE), with classes in power systems preferred
Additional Information
Internship Eligibility:
  • Must be enrolled in a college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR have graduated within the past 12 months
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must provide full work availability
  • Must provide own transportation to/from work
  • Current Active Disney cast members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Disney World cast members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland cast members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months)

    Program Length:
    The approximate dates of this internship are May/June 2013 through August/September 2013. Interns must be fully available for the duration of the internship.
