The Internal Audit Manager works under the supervision of the Internal Audit Director and is responsible for managing audit projects and activities, operational reviews, scheduling and risk assessment within the Nation’s Class III Gaming Operations. Responsibilities include planning, executing and reporting financial and compliance related audits/projects to facilitate compliance with Seneca Gaming Corporation’s (SGC’s) corporate standards, policies and procedures, applicable federal laws , applicable SNI laws/ordinances, the SNI Compact with NYS (Compact), SGA approved tribal minimum internal control standards (TICS), National Indian Gaming Commission guidelines for minimum internal control standards (NIGC MICS), generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS), internal controls over financial reporting (ICOFR), and AICPA and Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards. The Internal Audit Manager also conducts operational reviews and recommends policy, procedural and operational changes to improve departmental efficiencies. The Internal Audit Manager provides formal supervision and coaching of Internal Auditor team members.
Another primary responsibility is building and maintaining relationships with audit business partners and internal and regulatory customers. All duties are to be performed within the guidelines of the Seneca Gaming Corporation’s policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards and objectives.

Position Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment.
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent. Masters degree preferred.
  • Certifications: Active Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor.
  • Minimum of six (6) to ten (10) years of relevant experience (internal audit or public accounting); preferably in the gaming, hospitality, entertainment and/or retail industries.
  • Experience working for a large national or regional public accounting firm.
  • Experience with testing and assessment of internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Experience managing staff.
  • Successful candidate must be an experienced, results oriented, and hands-on professional.
  • Must demonstrate leadership, fairness, and sensibility to the customers and employees.
  • Must possess ability to instill a sense of pride and personal responsibility in subordinate employees.
  • Demonstrated competency in Excel, Power Point, Word and other software packages.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Experience working in internal auditing preferred.
  • Knowledge of the SNI Compact with NYS and the Seneca Gaming Authority approved tribal internal controls (TICS), and NIGC MICS preferred.
  • Experience with Title 31 preferred.
