Assist in the annual Risk Assessments
•Perform internal control reviews independently
•Execute detailed audit procedures, including reviewing transactions, documents, records, reports, and policies and procedures for accuracy and effectiveness
•Prepares audit finding memoranda and working papers to ensure that adequate documentation exists to support the completed audit and conclusions
•Developing recommendations for corrective action/improvment
•Follows up on audit findings to ensure that management has taken corrective action(s)
•Maintains Sarbanes-Oxley Internal Controls narratives, control matrixes and perform annual testing
•Provide assistance to external auditors as requested
•Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
•Bachelor's degree with business emphasis in accounting or a related field
•3 to 5 years of internal audit experience in banking
•Fundamental understanding of accounting internal controls (familiarity with the COSO internal controls framework is required) and Real Estate Lending is required.
•Understanding and appreciation of regulatory, accounting, Credit standards and financial industry guidance and best practices relevant to the business, including technology implications
•Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Cert Public Account (CPA) designation are preferred.
•Ability to travel within Queens, Brooklyn Manhattan and Nassau County.
