This position reports to the Internal Audit Manager - Retail & AAT, and is located in our Loveland, Colorado offices. As a member of the Internal Audit team, the auditor is accountable for evaluating risk, and conducting audits (operational and financial) outlined in the annual audit plan. The audits would include retail locations as well as SBU corporate functions. The primarily objective of these audits is to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of the controls in place across the various processes within the Retail and Advanced Technologies strategic business units (SBU) of Agrium Inc.

This position is accountable for the complete audit cycle including risk assessment, planning, fieldwork, and reporting. Approximately 30 – 40% travel may be required to the Company’s domestic and international locations.

Specific Responsibilities:
Conduct integrated control reviews and operational audits incorporating the components of the COSO framework for internal controls;

Participate in the annual planning process and interim risk assessments taking into consideration internal and external events impacting the business;

Under the guidance of Internal Audit Manager - Retail & AAT, support SBU management with counsel and assistance for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of processes and controls;

Identify and promote best practices;

Maintain effective working relationships with Corporate and SBU management;

Maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality, and exercise sound judgment while carrying out the responsibilities of the position.

Qualifications for the position include a degree in accounting or a related field in addition to 2 - 5 years of audit experience. A relevant professional designation such as a CPA or CIA is desired. In addition, the following skills/attributes are necessary:

Effective interpersonal and communication skills which are essential for interacting with all management levels of the organization;

Well developed problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills;

Strong understanding of the COSO Integrated Framework for Internal Controls;

Effective writing skills, including report writing and audit file documentation;

Demonstrated time management skills;

The ability to adapt to changing priorities;

Strong computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of applications;

Experience with large ERP systems, preferably SAP and/or PeopleSoft;

Ability to work in a team environment or independently;

Willingness and ability to travel to Agrium facilities within the United States and international locations.

The following are not necessary, but would be beneficial:
Experience with TeamMate audit management system;

Experience with ACL auditing tool;

International experience.
