Responsible to conduct audits either independently and/or participate as a team member on audits of areas that have been assessed to have a major or significant risk to the Company.

Responsible to assess risks, develop work plan, prioritize, and schedule work activities to support the audit plan.

Use word processing, spreadsheets and/or computer programs to develop various audit work products, perform analysis, and document findings and observations.

Responsible to propose recommendations and/or corporate policies, procedures, or operations based on audit results and track the audit findings.

Work with the external accounting firm performing quarterly financial review work and assist in direct assistance testing.

Maintain the Company’s directory for the current process documentation memos and policies and procedure documents.

Maintain a system to track the Company’s quarterly control certifications.

Assist the Company in the preparation of the internal control update with management.

Assist the external accounting firm in the preparation of their annual attestation report on the management internal control report.

In accordance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and the Audit Committee Charter, Aqua America, Inc. will not employ any person for this position who was employed by our independent accounting firm who participated in any capacity of our audit during the one (1) year period preceding the date of the initiation of the audit.

Required Skills

A bachelor's degree in Accounting and one to three years of audit experience is required. Must have the ability to effectively implement plans to accomplish goals; the ability to work with others; strong written and oral communication skills as well as presentation skills to effectively communicate and interact with personnel at all levels throughout the Company. Must be able to demonstrate proficient use of word processing; spreadsheet; presentation; flowcharting applications and data analysis tools. Public accounting experience, operational and/or auditing experience, general understanding of the water utility regulatory environment, knowledge of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor a plus.
