Under moderate supervision, completes assigned audits and projects of simple or moderately complex nature, develops audit recommendations, drafts audit reports, coordinates issuance of audit reports, and tracks completion of corrective action. Assists in the completion of audit tasks as part of a team audit. Develops audit programs for moderately complex and complex audits and projects based on thorough knowledge of Company operations and key processes. Audit program includes a project level risk assessment, audit scope determination, and appropriate audit steps. Audit projects include evaluation of the design and effectiveness of existing controls, assessment of efficient and effective utilization of Company resources, fraud, investigations, special projects such as SOX compliance reviews and requests from management.

Executes or assists in execution of audit programs and projects for all levels of complexity. Consults with the director on any significant issues identified. Collects, analyzes, performs data extraction as needed, and tests controls for effectiveness. Documents audit results in audit work papers in accordance with established standards. Develops audit recommendations to address identified issues, and obtains agreement from the audited on the recommendations and corrective actions with minimal supervision. Conducts special studies (i.e., data mining) to assist management in detecting unusual trends, conducting investigations, and establishing procedures for fraud investigations. Prepares audit report draft for audit management review. Tracks implementation of agreed-upon corrective action. Maintains strong customer relationship with those audited, management, peers, and external auditors. Supports completion of external audits. Maintains updated knowledge of assigned areas and business processes.

Worker characteristics are normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) and 6 - 12 months experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Completion of 1 - 2 years directly-related Company experience.

Requires active pursuit of CISA certification.

CPA, CIA, and MBA are preferred.

Able to build and maintain collaborative relationships across all levels and functions.

Able to make timely and logical decisions independently based on available information.

Good verbal and written communication skills to effectively influence and build commitment.

Able to focus on what is important for the customer and to maintain strong relationships with customers.

Strong time management skills.

Proficiency in MS Suite and state-of-the-art audit tools.

Knowledge of Internal Control industry standards, requirements, and best practices, such as COSO, SOX, and emerging Company accounting, regulatory, and auditing issues.

Property and Casualty Insurance operations knowledge.

Knowledge of financial accounting concepts.

Flexibility to perform scheduled audits at out-of-state locations as required.

Ability to interact cordially with other employees to accomplish common tasks.

Ability to adhere to the regular work schedule.
