Responsible for planning and executing detailed audit programs, internal control testing, assessing organizational risks, providing meaningful feedback, performing ad-hoc projects and analyzing and preparing materials to be presented to management and the Audit Committee.

Plan and execute comprehensive financial and operational audit activities with a focus on evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls, efficiency in operations and compliance with corporate policies

Interact with process owners, management and external auditors to build and foster key relationships

Prepare work papers documenting procedures and fully support audit findings

Assist in writing effective communications to be included with Internal Audit submissions to the Audit Committee and senior management

Identify value-add opportunities that impact key performance measures, improve process design and function and strengthen internal control structure

Communicate improvement and control findings to process owners/audit clients

Obtain and evaluate management action plans in response to findings

Track and follow up on audit findings

Complete projects and other duties as assigned within budgeted timeframes

Sarbanes-Oxley Work:
Execute periodic documentation and self-assessment procedures for SOX processes

Schedule and complete internal control walkthrough procedures and documentation within budgeted timeframes

Schedule and complete internal control testing procedures and documentation within budgeted timeframes

Make recommendations that add value to internal control processes

Conduct business with the highest ethical standards and consistent focus on the safety of all persons associated with SM facilities

Bachelor’s Degree from a four year University in Accounting or Finance; M.S. degree preferred

2 – 4 years financial experience, through public accounting/auditing (Big 4 a plus) and/or industry experience

CPA, CIA and CFE certifications are highly valued

Excellent skills in Microsoft Office

Demonstrate a basic understanding and effective use of accounting software applications

Maintain a high degree of integrity and high professional standards

Ability to demonstrate a strong work ethic, critical thinking and attention to detail

Ability to communicate effectively

Must keep current with technical and professional standards and actively pursues new skills and knowledge

Understanding of general accounting concepts and financial statements

Ability to perform detailed analysis and calculations

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: travel on as needed basis (10%)
